What Is College Project?
College Project is an element of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Each year, College Project works with our College's administration to make a positive change on campus with respect to Southwestern College' mission statement.
At the beginning of 2025, the College Project conducted research on where SWC students study over the weekends. We found that many Southwestern College students struggle to find conducive study spaces each weekend, with many students making the 30-45 minute drive to utilize the San Diego State Academic Library. While working with our college's administration, we discovered that a large majority of SWC students were completely unaware of the weekend study resources available at the National City campus.
The 2025 goal of the College Project is to raise awareness of weekend study spaces open to all Southwestern College Students, regardless of their home campus. We are working hard to reach students on all Southwestern College campuses (Chula Vista, National City, Otay Mesa, San Ysidro, and Crown Cove Aquatic Center) and inform them of weekend study spaces to assist in student productivity each and every weekend.
